This article explains how to construct the file that holds your advertiser's location information.

adActivate supports the uploading of xlsx, csv and ods files to create the locations. For a quick start, download one of the example files and start creating your file as you read this article:

We differentiate between 3 types of columns, which are explained in more detail:

  1. Required - Columns that hold information necessary for the creation of locations in adActivate
  2. Optional - Optional columns for differentiating budget or targeting settings
  3. Custom - Columns that hold information per location to show dynamic relevant information

1. Required columns

reference_code

You can choose a random reference_code for each location, the only requirement is that reference codes are unique to an advertiser.

name

Provide the location with a name.

address, postal_code, city

The address information of the location. We support several postal code formats for different countries.

country_code

The two letter ISO 3166-1 country code. If you're not sure about the correct code, Wikipedia is your friend.

landing_page

In this column, you specify the landing pages for the locations. Google Analytics has a great tool to construct a landing page with utm tags.

2. Optional

Even though the columns explained above are enough to set up your dealers, there are some optional columns to help you setup local online campaigns more efficiently.

default_budget

By adding a default_budget column, you can specify the default budget per location. If not specified, the project budget will be evenly divided amongst the locations.

postal_codes

By adding this column, you have the possibility to pinpoint the delivery areas linked to the locations.

The postal codes of the intended delivery areas for that location, separated by a comma. As shown, you have to use the asterisk as a wildcard, even when you fill in the complete postal code.

range

Range only is used for hyperlocal campaigns. The range is given in meters (for example: 2500).

target_center_postal_code + target_postal_code_range

By adding these two columns, you have the possibility to collect all the postal codes from a range (in meters). The target_center_postal_code will give the center point for collecting the other postal codes, and the target_postal_code_range will define the radius from that point in metres. For example: target_center_postal_code: 1010*, target_postal_code_range: 15000.

Note: This only works with a certain countries. If your desired country is not in the list, please contact your account manager or support@adcombi.com.

start_date and end_date

Using these two columns will define different start- and end dates. The date should be mentioned as: dd-mm-yyyy.
Note: when using the start- and end date, these dates should be within the start- and end date of the project that you will book in. Otherwise validation will fail.

image_url

Image_url gives you the option to host an image on Adcombi servers. When "image_url" is defined as [reference_code].png. So for the reference_code = 1001 row, you would fill in 1001.png.
When creating your project and uploading your data-file, you can upload a zip. This zip will contain all the images with the names: 1001.png, 1002.png, etc.

3. Custom columns

Go pro by providing custom columns to your file. These custom columns can then be used to create dynamic creatives for the project. By adding columns such as: opening_hours, call-to-action_texts, image_url, you can differentiate the information that will be shown in your creative. Best practice is naming the columns without spaces.

Note that we can also function as a CDN for your image_url. This way you can reduce your payload on your own server, because we are hosting your images. If you would like to use, please let us know.
